The City of Gardendale invites you to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Raymond G. Doss Playground of Miracles on Thursday, September 17th, at 7 pm. The handicapped accessible playground is being built adjacent to Pate Field, “Gardendale’s Field of Miracles”, at Luman Harris Park.
“We are very excited to be making this first step in building our special needs playground for our Miracle League kids,” said Gardendale Mayor Stan Hogeland. “The playground is being built in memory and honor of one of our most well-loved citizens, Raymond G. Doss, and is a fitting tribute to his life of community service, especially to the Miracle League.”
The City of Gardendale will be presenting a check for $25,000 to the playground fund. Total cost for the playground is $150,000 with approximately $50,000 still needed to complete the project. The groundbreaking signals the beginning of site prep while fundraising efforts continue.
The ceremony will be held between Miracle League games at 7 pm. The Miracle League facility is located at Luman Harris Park, 601 Park Street, Gardendale, Alabama 35071.
“We are looking forward to being part of such a great event!” said Tim Kennedy, Alabama Territory Representative for Mayfield Dairy Farms. Mayfield is donating ice cream to be sold at the games as a fundraiser for the playground fund.
Donations to complete the Raymond G. Doss Playground of Miracles may be made through the City of Gardendale. Make checks payable to:
