Safety Incentive Luncheon
A semi-annual Safety Incentive Luncheon for city employees was held Thursday, June 20th at the Gardendale Civic Center Exhibition Hall. Speakers at the luncheon included Myra Forrest, Safety Consultant for the Loss Control Division of the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation and the Municipal Workers Compensation Fund, Selman Robinson, retirement planner with Nationwide Insurance, Mayor Othell Phillips, and new members of the City Council Allen Jerkins, Blake Guinn, Greg Colvert and Stan Hogeland.
The City of Gardendale was recognized by Myra Forrest for their excellent safety record. The City has received an award for the past 10 out of 11 years. “The City of Gardendale is one of the most professional and progressive safety-minded municipalities” said Forrest. “The city is very lucky to have these employees taking care of this community.” The award is given through the AMIC & MWCF Loss Control Division and is based on a one year loss history.
Lunch was served to employees by the mayor and city council members. Lieutenant Bryan Lynch of the Gardendale Police Department gave the invocation.
The Mayor commended workers on their safety record for the past year and introduced the new city council members, who each spoke to employees. Employees who had no lost time due to accidents in the last 6 months were recognized by the Mayor and their Department Heads.
